BSA has prepared natural gas and power market analyses and forecasts for clients throughout North America, with emphasis on energy supply-demand analysis, transportation systems, changing commercial and regulatory mechanisms, and price indexation and risk management methods. Our consulting experience and background also spans Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, the former Soviet Union and the Middle East. In particular, BSA has conducted energy market research and gas utility rate case planning and support before regulatory bodies and in the context of major corporate mergers and acquisitions, as well as economic testimony regarding market power, rate of return, cost of capital, prudent transactions,and more.
In support of project financings, BSA’s due diligence practice encompasses both fuel and market risks. We’ve completed fuel due diligence studies and reports on more than 100 independent merchant power and cogeneration projects in North and South America, including since 2000 a series of power projects in the U.S. northeastern region from Maine to Virginia, and in Texas and Louisiana. A former vice-president of the American Gas Association, Dr. Schlesinger has testified before the Congress and in 16 states and provinces on the direction of the gas industry, gas contracting matters, purchase and sales prices, royalty valuations, market value, hedging and risk management, and related industry practices.
